What is Impetigo?
It is a bacterial infection on the surface of skin.

Causes
1) Impetigo is caused by a bacteria known as staphylococcus aureus.
2)In hot climate it may be due to caused by a bacteria streptococcus pyogenes.

Impetigo can be sore and itchy but does not usually make you feel ill

Are contagious?
These germ pass from person to person. Impetigo can spread rapidly through families, school, classes by skin to skin contact or less often by bedding, clothing and towels.

Who’s at risk?

1)Most often seen in young children.
2) Individual having low immunity.
3) Individual having diabetes.

Prevention
1) Avoid touching patches of impetigo and stop other people touching them too.
2) Don’t share towels, flannels etc. until the infection has cleared.
3) Hygiene is important. Always wash your hands after accidentally touching the area.
4)It is fine to continue with your normal bathing and skincare routine.
