CELLULITIS
What is Cellulitis?
Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the skin. These bacteria able to enter the skin through small cracks ( fissure) causing the sudden appearance of redness, swelling and warmth in the skin.
Cause
Cellulitis is caused by the bacteria known as streptococcus or staphylococcus aureus.
Sign and Symptoms
1) pain and tenderness in the affected area.
2) Redness or inflammation of your skin.
3)A tight, glossy, slowen appearance of your skin.
4) felling of warmth in the affected area.
5)A feeling of fever, illness, fatigue, dizziness.
Who’s at risk?
1) Diabetes
2) Lymphedema
3) Skin wounds
4) Chronic lower leg swelling (Oedema)
5) Poor circulation in the leg ( peripheral vascular disease)
6) Individual having low immunity.
Home remedies
1) Individual can elevate the involved body part inorder to decrease swelling.
2)A cool, clean, moist towel can be applied to the affected area to decrease pain.
When to see medical care?
If you develop tender, red, warm,enlarging area on your skin.
Treatment
Take an oral antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor.
