EPIDERMOID CYST
What is an Epidermoid cyst?
Epidermoid cyst sometimes known as sebaceous cysts contain a soft “cheesy” material composed of keratin, a protein component of skin, hair and nails.
CAUSE
It is usually caused by a buildup of keratin ( i.e. keratin is a protein that occurs naturally in the skin).
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS
1)A CYST appears as a dome-shaped, skin colored growth that usually moves when touched and pressed upon.
2)It may have a small opening in the centre.
3)The cyst can be well defined or irregular.
4)If manipulated or infected, the cyst can become red and may be tender.
HOME REMEDIES
1)It is advised not to try to remove the material within the cyst at home.
TREATMENT
1) Your doctor may be injecting steroids to reduce inflammation in non-infected cysts.
2) Cyst may be removed (excised) surgically.
3) Take medicine on time as prescribed by the doctor.
